Norwich Waffle House

I have been living in Norwich for 2 years now and The Waffle House is still my FAV place to eat. Ever.

My savoury fav is the Feta and Mozarella. Salad, Olives and Chutney = amazing.

Elveden Estate "Big Onion Festival"

I love a good day out (and its always better if food is involved!).

I have been going to Elveden Estate for as long as I can remember with my parents to buy all manner of things from Christmas trees to pickles and jams!

The Big Onion was celebrating homegrown food from the estate and other lovely things!
Makes me proud to be a country Norfolk girl.




They have the most amazing shops which surround this courtyard area where you can enjoy food and drinks.



Freshly made venison burgers = amazing.

Fine Art Assemblage

I dug out some of my old assemblage boxes as they have been buried under my bed for a few years as I was unsure of what to do with them.

I don't know whether to open them up to re-use the objects or keep them.
They contain a few old newspapers, keys, flowers, a ring, pearls, telegrams and so forth

Sweet Treats

It had been a while since I had made a cheesecake so why not.
The sauce is made from frozen strawberries
with sugar blended then passed through a fine strainer.

The recipe is the normal soft cheese and vanilla with a biscuit and butter base.

Just add some kiwi, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries.




Chocoalte Crispy Cakes.
We all have made these at some point.
Quick easy and totally scrummy!

A little late for Pimms O'clock

I feel the best place to find interesting objects is often close to home.
I am very lucky in the fact that my great grandparents collected and stored a variety of objects during the war.
This must be where I get my need to act like a magpie as soon as anything shiny or old is displayed before me.

My great grandparents owned pubs throughout World War Two so I am the lucky beneficiary of many glasses, vintage drinks and just odds and ends.

This Pimms No.1 Cup was recently given to me as she was unsure of what to do with it, I have found it pretty hard to date but I can assume as Pimms replaced the corks with a screw-off caps in 1946 its from around then.


But if anyone could help I would really appreciate it!

I especially like the "Contents 26 2/3 FL.OZS" sticker used to sort the bottles when ordering in the pub.

Just for good measure (no pun intended) here is what 1946 vs 2011 looks like.

Just in case your wondering, I have not been tempted to try it! It's still sealed.

Assemblage Ideas...

Since studying fine art I have been interested in how assemblage art is constructed through found objects.
I wish I had discovered antique print trays a few years ago, it would have saved a lot of time hunting around carboot sales and auctions at the weekends.

I loved Joseph Cornell's boxes. His process of keeping objects he bought, found and liked really appeals to me.

I hope to get hold of an antique print tray for storing miscellaneous items in my room at university as I have acquired quite a few over the last 4 years.

It has also been a while since I have made any asemblage art so I would very much like to get back into the swing of things.

Some casual baking - Carrot cake and butter cream with dark chocolate drizzle and honeycomb topping.

One of the upsides to being home from university is more time to do things I enjoy rather than essays.
Being part of the Ladies Society has made mine and my housemates baking much more exciting.
These cupcakes would satisfy even the sweetest tooth!
Perfect for afternoon tea.
